Week 6: Sound the Alarms

Welcome back after a week's break! It certainly was refreshing.

However, my return was met with new problems. The hardware testing setup was changed, as a new circuit board has been developed by the company enough to warrant testing.

This board apparently is not perfectly synced to the testing fixture. All of this would have been a small setback, but the advisor that helps me run everything in the testing corner was out sick the day that I got back. We had to look for problems and fix them using Skype and Team Viewer... It was a fun experience.

As soon as we fixed the error and got some tests to work, we ended the Team Viewer session and went about our business. Of course, that's the exact time that everything would stop working. So, I did some tinkering myself and found that the circuit board needs to be reset for a while between every test. This was confirmed the next day, when we could work on the system together in person. Progress is always being made, and I hope that soon everything will be working correctly.

As for other events around the office, this morning the fire drill went off. Apparently it was just a test, but nothing startles you more than the quick *click* of seven years of conditioning. Yes, the drill sounded the exact same as the one at BASIS. Yes, I jumped a little.

Well, until next time, when I will hopefully have a working set up.

  2. I'm glad you figured out the error. And fire drill? I didn't know you worked with S0ftie.
